Chelsea Cooper

Chelsea Cooper is a senior music therapy major at Sam Houston State University. Her primary instruments are clarinet and piano. In addition to being the president of Mu Tau Omega, she is also the president of the SHSU Women’s Lacrosse Team, I private lesson instructor, an honors college ambassador and a scholarship singer at the church she attends. After graduation she plans to get her Neurologic Music Therapy certification and attend a dual masters program. Her ultimate goal is to be a private practice music therapist.

Grant Howarth

Grant is a Junior majoring in Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology.  His primary instrument is voice.  This is his second year on the Officer Board for MTO; he has enjoyed every minute of it. He is a research assistant for Bill Brocato and Dr. Bonanno in the Sociology Department and a Student Assistant at the DELTA center. In addition to MTO, he is the Secretary for Gamma Sigma Kappa.  Grant wants to work with patients with Emotional Behavioral Disorders or those with a history of substance abuse.  He is extremely excited about Awareness Weekend and can't wait to share Music Therapy with Sam Houston.

Samantha is a senior music therapy student who is passionate about medical/ pediatric music therapy, specifically in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  She is from Rosepine, Louisiana and has loved her time spent at SHSU.  Sam hopes to also pursue a certification in Child Life after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy.

 Marcus Hughes is a Senior music therapy major at SHSU. He studied clarinet under Dr. Patricia Card and Dr. Dmitry Perevertailenko.  He has been a member of Wind ensemble and Symphonic band, and has been a member of the Bearkat Marching Band since the fall of 2009. Marcus is currently serving his second year as student assistant for the BMB. He is also currently a member of the Honors College. Marcus previously served as an parliamentarian of Mu Tau Omega, and is currently serving as the Treasurer. He also served as treasurer of SWAMTAS, and is currently serving as secretary of AMTAS. He plans to graduate in the fall of 2013 and then later pursue a masters degree in music therapy or psychology.

Historian:
Michael Salinas
 
Michael is a junior level music therapy major at Sam Houston State University. His primary instrument is percussion, and he is a transfer student from the University of Texas at Brownsville. In addition to being the historian for Mu Tau Omega, he is also the historian for the Collegiate Percussion Association. Michael's hobby's and interests are photography, reading, art, playing guitar, discovering new music, and when he has extra time on his hands he enjoys playing video games. At the time being, Michael is interested in the geriatrics and hospice settings, and after graduation Michael plans on starting his very own private practice, which is his long-term goal. Michael is excited to represent MTO as historian for the 2012 - 2013 school year!
