Mu Tau Omega: MTΩ is an SHSU and AMTA-affiliated student organization that promotes the study of music therapy in various ways. MTΩ provide opportunities for leadership, community service, therapy practice, and social events. The purpose of MTΩ is “To promote the discipline of music therapy among the students at Sam Houston State University, as well as the surrounding community, in accordance with the purpose set forth in Article II of the Constitution of the American Music Therapy Association, Inc., which reads: ‘The purpose of the association shall be the progressive development of the use of music to accomplish therapeutic aims and the advancement of training, education and research in the music therapy profession.’ ”
